I'm Bianca — a psychotherapist for people whose careers cross borders.
I know what it feels like to leave everything behind. I've relocated myself multiple times across continents — building a life, losing a network, starting over.
An expat myself — originally from Australia, I now split my time between London and Abu Dhabi and work globally. My own lived experience sits alongside twenty years of cross-sector experience in education, schools, health, and clinical psychotherapy. I work primarily with expats across Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Hong Kong, Zurich, New York, London, and while the faces changed, my client's story rarely did. I see similar themes arising each time. Identity loss. Relationship strain. The person who gave up a career to support a partner's new job opportunity and doesn't know who they are anymore.
I started researching the psychological impact of global mobility because I needed to understand it more deeply. What I found in the data confirmed what I'd been seeing repeatedly in my private practice: When an international move becomes difficult, the problems aren't usually logistical. They're relational.
The solution I offer is straightforward: Psychological preparation before the move, and sustained support through everything that comes after.
